CHILDREN’S WING
At Louisiana, the children have their own area in the museum, Louisiana Børnehus. The three-story Children’s Wing offers open workshops every day, where children from 4 to 16 can paint, draw, build – and explore artists’ and architects’ working methods and expressions.
Open Tuesday–Sunday from 11.00-18.00. The Children’s Wing workshops close at 17.30.
All acitivities are free. Children under 18 get free entrance to the museum.

Celebrate your birthday at Louisiana

From the very beginning, in 1958, the Louisiana was designed with children in mind. “Children are the future of the museum,” Knud W. Jensen said. Setting up a room for children right inside the front door of his new museum, the Louisiana’s founder made his youngest visitors feel right at home.
the story
But Jensen had a far bigger vision. In 1994, he realised his dream, opening an entire three-storey Children’s Wing. “Here, children’s own expression in a friendly and accommodating environment will accustom them to visiting a museum like the Louisiana and familiarise them with contemporary art forms.”
Ever since, children and teens have been free to creatively express themselves and explore the many ways of seeing and sensing art. Like a family room with high ceilings, the Children’s Wing offers a vibrant setting for experiences, play, learning and activities – always in dialogue with nature in the Lake Garden, with the museum itself and with artworks in the collection and changing exhibitions.
Around the world, the Children’s Wing is a beacon of inspiration and a much-loved cross-generational meeting place. People come here again and again, fulfilling Knud W. Jensen’s wish to encourage children to step into the magical world of art.
